A symbolic place for the whole country is located not far from the main base of the Naval Forces of Azerbaijan – it is the National Flag Square with the rising state flag and depictions of state symbols – coat of arms, anthem and map of Azerbaijan, made of gilded bronze. Here also operates the State Flag Museum (building in the form of eight-pointed star), that features orders, medals, money, stamps, flags and other exhibits about the history of the country.
Till 2011 the flagpole, which was installed in the square, was considered the tallest in the world -162 meters, it was even included in the Guinness Book of Records. But then this status was overtaken by Dushanbe. The size of the flag is impressive as well: 70 by 35 meters, weight – about 350 kg.
